Burst out of your shell!
Bring your creativity forth

I have been watching a Netflix show called ‘Next in Fashion’. The outpouring of creativity from this show and the fashion designers reasons for being there are really inspiring. Their exploration of colour, texture, details and the meaning behind it is really empowering - like the flower bursting with colour and individuality in the image above.
"Creativity is intelligence having fun”
Creativity provides value — either it’s a creative way to solve a problem, a creative way to express an emotion or a creative idea to integrate. It can mark you out from others and give you a strong mission statement to carry you through.
The good news is creativity can come from anywhere. However, coming from a creative background and being a designer myself, here are my ideas to get your creative juices flowing!
1. Take a walk and explore nature - it will inspire you, open and clear the mind.
2. Visit an art gallery and try and focus on one area - this could be colour, texture or discussing the meaning of the art work. You can focus on sculpture, painted art or installations and find the significance in the designer’s message. What inspires you about what you see?
3. Look at the world from a different perspective - using a different 'eye'. The concept of thinking out the box is essential. A great technique to try is to think of the worst case scenario for something and then do the opposite. This is a very useful tool for strategic planning.
4. Play chess! This is a game of strategy and creative thinking.
Researchers at a school in India tested the creative thinking skills of two groups of students. One group was trained in chess playing, and the other was not.
The tests asked students to come up with alternate uses for common items and to interpret patterns and meaning in abstract forms. Students who played chess scored higher on tests. Researchers concluded that chess increased the students’ ability to exercise divergent and creative thinking.
5. Find something or someone who inspire you and bring them into effective, innovative thinking. You should also bounce ideas off others you trust.
6. Exercise - This is an effective way of getting the endorphins in the brain ticking away. See my previous article on exercise for more inspiration.
7. Take a shower! I often find that my mind opens up when I am in the shower. It is a moment when you are relaxed and on your own to contemplate.
In life, creativity can open up so many possibilities. WhatsApp or call me to discuss this and what techniques you could use to improve your life now!
Life is good,
