Make gratitude your attitude
And make it part of your daily life!

Satisfaction guaranteed!
It is not always easy to feel gratitude for life, what your have, your relationships, family, community, career and other pursuits.
In positive psychology, gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness, Gratitude helps us feel more positive emotions, improve our health, wellbeing, helps us deal with difficult situations better, helps us to enjoy good experiences, build strong relationships and be more compassionate to ourselves and to others.
The word gratitude is derived from the Latin word gratia, which means grace, graciousness, or gratefulness (depending on the context). In some ways, gratitude encompasses all of these meanings.
Gratitude is a thankful appreciation for what an individual receives, whether tangible or intangible. With gratitude, we can acknowledge the goodness in our lives. Practising gratitude not only makes us feel good and others around us, it is good for our mental health as well.
Next time your partner, child or work colleague does something you appreciate, let them know. It will make both you and them happy.
Thank people for what they do - say thank you more, it will make you and others feel good! People will then in turn appreciate you more.
Communicate how you feel clearly - say what you appreciated to the people who mean a lot to you. For more information on communication see my article https://lisajosephlifecoaching.beehiiv.com/p/effective-communication on how the right communication can transform your relationships for the better.
Make an appreciation jar - buy or reuse a food jar with lid. Put small notes inside - each one should represent something that you are grateful for. Pick one out at random to remind you what you appreciate. You could do this once a day, once a week or even once a month, whenever you need that reminder.
Treat yourself - remember the importance of self care - go out for a coffee with a friend, do some retail therapy, or how about a yoga class or a run in the park. Appreciate you and give yourself the gratitude you deserve!
Save any positive or thankful emails in a folder or tagged with a label so you can look at them.
Write a gratitude journal - Write down what you are grateful for in a journal. You can add to it as and when you like. You can buy a clear notebook or journal that have different categories and sections to add to. The ‘gratitude journal’ on papier.com is great resource and you can fill in the sections inside when you get some quiet time or when you are inspired to jot something down. Some people like to do this every day. There is also several app available to enable you to do this. Search ‘gratitude’ on the app store.
“Enjoy the little things. For one day you may look back and realise they were the big things.”
